That time a guy in a bucket truck told me to stop yanking my rope

I used to always pull my throw line super hard to get it unstuck from a branch. An old timer I was helping on a job in Burlington said I was just making it worse by wedging the knot tighter. He had me shake the line gently instead and let gravity do the work. Now I just flick the line a few times and it pops right out. Anyone else have a dumb habit a more experienced climber broke them of?

Yeah, that yanking thing is a total trap. @juliaa25 wrecked my first throw bag doing the same move.

And that old timer was right, I bet your rope lasts way longer now too. The worst part is my throw bag is still dented from when I treated it like a tug of war game.
