Found an old trick for pruning big oaks that saved me hours last week

I been climbing trees for about 15 years now and I always used a handsaw for the bigger cuts on pruning jobs. Last week I had this massive red oak near Austin that needed a ton of deadwood out of the crown. My climbing buddy told me to try a Silky Zubat with a curved blade instead of my usual straight saw. Man that thing cut through 6 inch limbs in like half the time with way less effort. I felt dumb for not switching sooner. Any of you guys use curved blades for deadwood or is it just me?

I saw a video from a guy in Oregon who prunes pines for a living and he swore by the curved Zubat for anything over 4 inches. He said the curve lets the saw bite on the pull stroke without binding up like a straight blade can in green wood. I tried it on a live oak last month with a bunch of 5 inch limbs and it was night and day difference. My arm wasn't as tired and I didn't have to fight the saw on every single cut. The one thing I noticed is you gotta be careful on the push stroke with a curved blade, it can kick if you're not paying attention.
