My uncle told me to always check the door switch first on a dryer that won't start, saved me a ton of time on a job yesterday.

Yeah, checking the door switch is like rule one. I've seen so many service calls where the tech overcomplicates it and it's literally just that little plastic nub being broken. Saves a ton of diagnostic time for sure.

It's definitely a common first step, but calling it rule one might be a bit strong. On modern machines, that switch is often part of a whole door lock assembly with a motor and electronic control. I've opened plenty where the nub is fine, but the little motor inside the lock is burnt out. Still a simple fix, just a different part than people expect.
