I Remember When Anime Subs Were A Crapshoot On VHS Tapes

Got a Blu-ray box set last week and the subtitles were off by a full 2 seconds the whole first episode. Made me miss the old days of fan subs where you just dealt with typos and hoped the translation wasn't made up. Anyone else get annoyed when modern releases drop the ball like that?

You ever get one of those releases where the subtitles are perfectly timed but the font is like comic sans or some nonsense? I had that happen on a DVD once. Made me nostalgic for those old VHS days where the subs were literally hand-typed on a typewriter and you could smell the tape. At least back then you knew the person translating had some passion for it, even if half the dialogue was wrong. Now it's just some automated system that clearly didn't check the final product.
