Got yelled at for subbing anime with movie captions

I was using subtitle files ripped from a Bluray for a 90s OVA series and someone in the group pointed out all the timing was off because I was using movie timing instead of episode timing. Turns out I'd been forcing 2-hour subtitle blocks into 25-minute episodes for three straight weeks. Anyone else ever get called out for a dumb subtitle mismatch like that?

90 minutes of subs forced into 25 minutes sounds like a legit upgrade to me.

Honestly I did almost the same thing with a fansub group back in the day but it was worse because I was syncing TV episode subs to the DVD version and nobody noticed for like a month until a random scene was in the wrong language.
