The $180 compression boots that landed me in PT

Bought a pair of those fancy recovery boots off a Facebook ad after a 12 hour shift stretch last spring, figured my legs deserved it. Wore them on HIGH for like an hour every night for two weeks, turns out you're not supposed to do that with a history of deep vein issues. Woke up with my calf twice the size and ended up at St. Mary's ER in Tulsa, cost me an ultrasound and a week of work. Has anyone else gotten burned by recovery gear that was supposed to HELP, or am I just the unlucky one?

Grabbed my own pair last year after a marathon prep wrecked my shins, figured theyd be a miracle. Ran them on medium for 20 minutes, felt fine, so I bumped it up and fell asleep with them on. Woke up with my feet numb and tingly, took three days for the feeling to come back fully. Doc said I likely compressed a nerve and that these things are way stronger than people think. Now they sit in my closet collecting dust and I just use a foam roller like my grandpa did. Guess high tech gear is only high tech if you read the manual, which I clearly never do.
