A stray cat set off my backyard camera and now I test for false triggers
I set up a basic camera system around my veggie patch to watch for pests. One camera kept sending alerts at the same time each evening, and I thought it was a raccoon. Turns out it was just my neighbor's cat walking along the fence in the sunset light. The angle made the shadow look huge and trip the motion sensor. I spent a whole evening tweaking the sensitivity and the view zone after that. It hit me that we do the same rush job in homes, not thinking about pets or sun patterns. Now I ask clients about their pets and watch the light in the room before I mount anything. That extra five minutes stops a lot of annoying false alarms later on.

Ever thought about how much the seasons mess with your motion sensors too? My system goes nuts every fall when leaves start blowing across the lawn, and then again in winter with snow shadows. It's not just the daily sun you have to watch for, but how the whole environment changes month to month. I guess the real lesson is to test your setup a few times a year, not just when you first install it.
