Pro tip: I was torquing bleed valves on a 737's brakes the wrong way for years.
A new guy at the hangar in Phoenix watched me do it and said, "You know the manual says to go the other way, right?" I checked the AMM and he was right, I had been adding stress to the fitting. How many other little things like that do we pick up wrong and never get corrected?

Yeah, that's why I always double-check the manual now. Got burned once on a simple torque spec and felt like an idiot. Saves a lot of trouble in the long run.

Holy cow, that's a scary one! I mean, a brake bleed valve? That's not some random access panel bolt. It really makes you wonder what else you're doing backwards. I once saw a guy install a cabin air filter upside down for months because that's how he was shown. The manual had one little arrow everyone missed.

Cabin air filters actually have airflow arrows for a reason, but they still work either way. Brake bleed valves are a whole different level of wrong though.
