Hot take: frozen wings beat fresh in the air fryer, here's why I'm sticking with them

I know everyone swears by fresh chicken wings, but I tried a side by side last weekend with a bag of frozen ones from Aldi and the fresh ones from the butcher. The frozen ones came out way crispier on the outside and stayed juicy inside. The fresh ones dried out at 400 degrees for 25 minutes, even with a flip halfway. I think it's because the ice crystals create steam pockets or something, no idea if that's real science but the texture was better. Cost wise it's like $6 a bag vs $14 for the same amount fresh, so yeah. Anyone else get better results with frozen wings or am I just bad at fresh cooking?

Stop the presses, you actually cooked them at 400 for 25 minutes and they didn't turn into leather? That's wild. My fresh wings always come out looking like jerky if I blink past the 20 minute mark, so I'm genuinely shook. The steam pocket thing might be some real science, like the ice melts slower and keeps the inside from overcooking while the outside gets all crackly. I did the same Aldi test a few months ago and the frozen ones had this perfect snap when I bit into them, the fresh ones were just... sad. You might be onto something, and my wallet is definitely on board with the $6 bag.
