PSA: A chat with my friend's kid about her school project made me see AI differently
I was over at a buddy's place last week, and his 10-year-old was showing me her history report. She used some free AI tool to help find pictures and facts about ancient Egypt. She said, 'It's like having a really fast librarian who never gets tired.' That simple line hit me. I've been so focused on the big, complex models for work that I forgot how these tools just help people get stuff done, even simple homework. It's not all about beating benchmarks or parameter counts. Has anyone else had a moment where a non-expert's use of AI gave you a new view on it?

Man, that's a good point. We always talk about AI taking jobs, but we never talk about the jobs it creates for people. That kid basically hired a free research assistant. For someone who can't drive to a library or afford a tutor, that's huge. It's not about being lazy, it's about getting help that wasn't there before. That changes who can do good work.

Honestly, what if the real win is that it lets people focus on the creative part of the work instead of just the busy work?
