That 1978 Sony Trinitron needed 3 capacitors, not a new flyback

My buddy Lou who fixes arcade boards told me to stop buying $40 flyback transformers and check the caps near the power supply first. I ignored him twice, replaced the flyback on my 1978 Sony KV-1914 anyway, and the screen still had that wavy collapse. Third time I finally listened, swapped three 10uF caps for about $1.50 total at a local electronics shop in Dayton, and the picture locked in perfect. Anyone else have a repair that only worked after you stopped trusting the obvious part?
