The environmental nostalgia hit when I realized my kids have never worn a patched pair of jeans. Everything's disposable now.

What often gets overlooked is how this disposability undermines basic repair skills. Learning to patch jeans was a lesson in resourcefulness that's fading from common knowledge. That loss of practical knowledge makes the shift to a throwaway culture even harder to reverse.

Used to overlook that, but you're RIGHT about repair skills.

moore.stella, that point about repair skills is so true. My friend tried to resew a seam on his backpack and it completely fell apart in his hands. Really shows how we've lost those basic fixes.
