My electrician buddy called out my outlet spacing habit
I used to just put outlets wherever the studs landed when finishing my basement in Alpharetta. Last month my buddy who does commercial work took one look and said, 'You're gonna regret that when you try to plug in anything wider than a phone charger.' He was right, I had two outlets six inches apart near my workbench and nothing on the wall where the TV went. Spent a Saturday moving three boxes and adding two new runs, cost me about $140 in wire and drywall repair. Has anyone else had to redo rough-in work because you were thinking about what was easy instead of what you'd actually use?
