Struggling with insomnia at a hostel in Barcelona, a fellow traveler's meditation guide changed everything

Lying awake for the third night, the street noise and unfamiliar sounds were overwhelming... a woman in the bunk below noticed and lent me her dog-eared copy of a guide focused on body scan techniques for sleep. I followed the prompts, starting from my toes and working upwards, and actually drifted off before finishing. Has anyone else had a meditation guide breakthrough in an unlikely travel situation?

Did incorporating meditation change how you approach travel sleep issues now?

Travel really exposes how fragile our sleep habits are, honestly.

Reading about your hostel insomnia, I mean, it really hits home because I've had similar nights. @harris.seth raised a good point about changing approaches, but I'm curious if the body scan technique has stuck with you beyond that trip. Like, do you find yourself automatically using it now in other stressful situations, or was it more of a one-time travel hack? Maybe it's just me, but I feel like meditation tools either become second nature or fade away after the crisis passes. Idk, I'd love to hear if this sparked a lasting practice for you or if it was situational.
