Serious question, should quick and slow walkers stay together on family paths?

One side says keeping everyone close avoids losing anyone, but others think letting faster people go ahead lets them enjoy more. My friend's family always splits up by speed. How do you all deal with this?

Did I used to push for everyone to stay close? For sure. But letting the speedy ones go ahead actually keeps the peace, we all meet at the end and no one is bored or rushed.
