TIL wearing gloves while derusting wrenches prevents nasty chemical burns
I mean, I got a real bad burn on my hand from some evapo-rust last month, and it sucked. Idk, maybe it's just me, but now I never touch that stuff without nitrile gloves, even for quick jobs. It seems obvious, but I see so many guys skipping it and risking their skin for no reason.

Honestly, I've handled evapo-rust bare-handed plenty of times and never had an issue. If you rinse it off quickly, it's fine. Gloves just get in the way and tear on sharp edges. For a five minute job, putting on gloves feels like overkill. Most guys I know skip them and are just careful.

Totally get that, I do the same thing. I mean I've been using that stuff for years on old tools and car parts without gloves. It's just a quick dip and rinse, never even tingles. Half the time my gloves are across the shop anyway, and like you said, they always snag on something. Feels like more hassle than it's worth for a small job.
