Just realized my color mixing method was slowing me down

I used to mix all my colors by eye at the station. It took forever and sometimes came out wrong. A friend showed me her pre-mixed shade cards. Now I have a system that saves time and reduces waste. My clients are happier with consistent results.

Check the lighting where you use those shade cards. Natural light can change how colors look, and indoor bulbs might skew your perception. I learned this the hard way when a mix looked perfect under salon lights but was off in daylight. Keeping a consistent light source for checking saves even more time and avoids client surprises.

Oh man, that's so true. I painted a wall in my living room thinking it was a nice warm gray under the store's fluorescent lights. Got it home and it looked straight up purple in the afternoon sun. Had to redo the whole thing. Lighting makes all the difference.

Also, your eyes need time to adjust to new light, which can trick you on colors.
