A client in Seattle asked me to cut her hair like a picture from 1998

She brought in a photo of a layered, face-framing cut from a magazine she saved. I told her the style might look dated now, but she insisted it was 'classic'. I did the cut, and honestly, it looked good on her. Do you ever think some old styles should stay gone, or is it all fair game if the client wants it?

Hey, if it looks good on them, who cares what year it's from?

Yeah but that "who cares" part is where people get stuck. Some folks just can't let old stuff be cool again.

Right, but what's the real problem with old stuff coming back? Like @victor266 said, if it looks good, wear it. Is it just about feeling like your own style gets copied, or is it something else? Look at low rise jeans or those tiny sunglasses, people hated them then and some hate them now. Why does it bother someone so much if a younger person thinks a trucker hat from 2004 is cool?
