My buddy in Phoenix got the film and it's fine. Not sure it needs to be this big debate like the_daniel says.

Yeah, the "green options getting more common" part is good to hear. It makes me think of my dad's place... he had that film put on his west-facing windows a few years back, not even the full glass, just the retrofit film. The difference was wild. His living room went from a sauna where you couldn't even sit on the couch in the afternoon to a totally usable space. It wasn't even about being green for him, just about not being miserable... but it sure cut his AC bill way down.

Actually, those retrofit films are a band-aid fix. Proper solar control glass built into the unit lasts decades and performs way better. You get what you pay for in the long run.
