My torch and I have come a long way together
Early on, I was basically fighting my torch every time. Now, we're on good terms, mostly. Finished a project today without any flame drama. It's nice to see some progress after all these years. Who knew not burning myself would be a win?

Isn't it your skill that's gotten better, not the torch? Tools don't change, but we do.

The idea that "tools don't change" feels off to me lol. Reminds me of when I tried making fancy pasta with a dull kitchen knife from my old apartment. I knew the technique, but I just made a shredded mess. Borrowed my roommate's sharp chef's knife and suddenly I could actually cut basil into thin strips like the videos show. My skill was the same, but the right tool stopped fighting me and let me do the thing properly. It was a total aha moment.

My buddy upgraded his old propane torch to a newer model with better flame control. He'd been struggling for MONTHS to get clean solder joints on copper pipes. The very first time he used the new torch, his work looked ten times cleaner. His hands were doing the same motions, but the tool itself gave him the consistent heat he needed. Sometimes the right equipment removes a barrier you didn't even fully see. That upgrade absolutely changed his results overnight.
