He said it was 'simple work' and should only take a weekend. I explained my rate and process, and he just laughed and said freelancers are overpriced. It happened over a video call and I still think about it. How do you even respond to that kind of thing?

My aunt used to do that when telemarketers called during dinner. She’d just cackle into the phone and hang up. It became a whole family joke. We’d all wait to see how long she could keep the laugh going. Made those annoying calls something to look forward to, weirdly enough. She had one guy call back asking if she was okay.

My dad used to just set the phone down and walk away, let them talk to the empty room.
