PSA: I lost about $40 on a bad bottle of 'mixable' ink

I got a bottle of 'InkCraft Base Blue' last month because the label said it was made for mixing. Tried to add a drop of a red sheening ink to make a purple, and the whole 60ml bottle just turned into a thick, cloggy mess. It ruined the ink and my favorite pen feed. Has anyone found a brand of base ink that actually plays nice with other stuff?

I switched to Van Dieman's base inks after a similar clog, and they've been solid for mixing. @jennifer_henderson97, your buddy's story is exactly why I made the change.

My friend had the same thing happen with a "mixable" black, it just gummed up and killed the flow.

Yeah, that "gummed up" thing is exactly what happened to my buddy's pen. He had to toss the whole cartridge.
