Our old core shooter jammed up bad on a big gearbox job yesterday.
The sand feed auger just locked solid halfway through a run, and we had to pull the whole hopper to clear a chunk of hardened binder. We got it going with a torch and a pry bar, but it set us back almost four hours. What's the fastest way you guys clear a bad jam without wrecking the machine?

Ever tried a heat gun on the hopper first?

Yeah, the heat gun trick is solid. You have to go slow and keep it moving so you don't warp the plastic. The goal is just to warm everything up enough to break the jam loose, not to melt it. I usually follow up by tapping the sides with a rubber mallet while it's still warm. Works way better than just beating on a cold hopper.
