Showerthought: I used to skip the first season of 'The Expanse'
I always told people to start with season 2 because the plot was faster, but I rewatched the first four episodes last week. Seeing the crew of the Rocinante, especially Naomi and Amos, start to trust each other on that ice hauler made me realize I was missing the whole 'found' part of their family. It's all in those early, slow moments on the Canterbury. Anyone else have a show where the setup is actually the most important bit?

The first season of The Leftovers hit me the same way. That slow, uncomfortable setup where you're just watching people struggle with everyday grief felt pointless at first. But once you get to season two and three, those early scenes are the whole reason the later stuff has any weight. It's like they're building the foundation for this big emotional house, and you don't realize how solid it is until you're standing inside it. Your mileage may vary, but for me, skipping the slow start would've made the payoff feel empty.
