I used to skip the first few episodes of a show, but it cost me a great found family story

I started watching this space show everyone talked about, but I almost quit after two episodes because the crew just seemed like coworkers. My friend in Boston told me to push through to episode 5, 'The Dinner Scene'. I did, and that's when you see them all really talk for the first time, not as a team but as people. It completely changed the whole show for me. Has anyone else had a show where the found family moment hits at a specific point like that?

Honestly I feel the opposite way sometimes. If a show needs five whole episodes to get good, that's a problem with the writing. I mean, you can show people being real with each other way earlier than that. It just feels like lazy setup to me.

What, you expect instant family from a tv show?
