As a kid, I spent hours on forgotten sports games. Was that healthy activity or just screen time?

But what if the timer itself isn't the point? For me, it was more about what I did right after I put the phone down. I had to have a real, physical thing ready to do, like a book or a sketchpad, or I'd just pick it back up. The timer felt like a punishment until I gave myself something better to switch to.

Setting clear time limits can really help with screen use. From my time dealing with this, using a timer or app to track usage makes you more aware. It's not about cutting out screens for good, just finding a good balance.
