Rant: My old 5.4 Triton versus the new 7.3 Godzilla in my work truck

Ran the 5.4 in my old F-250 for years, always felt like it was working too hard pulling a loaded trailer up the hill near my house. Switched to the 7.3 gas engine in a new F-350 and the difference is just stupid, it doesn't even downshift on the same grade. Anyone else made a jump like that and been blown away?

Sounds like a big upgrade but was the old truck really that bad?

Ever see that happen? My buddy's old 5.4 groaned like @sandralee's might, but his new 7.3 just eats hills for breakfast.
