Growing up, I always thought keeping things pristine was the only way to honor them. Seeing my cousin use his dad's old truck for dump runs and camping trips changed my mind completely. The dents and new memories added somehow feel more respectful than letting it just sit.

Funny you say that, I used to treat my first car like a museum piece. Spilled coffee on the seats once and acted like I'd ruined a Picasso. Now with all its stains and dents from road trips, it feels more lived-in, like it has a real history. Your cousin's truck thing makes total sense - using stuff gives it a soul.

Exactly, a perfect car is just a thing in a showroom. The coffee stain is from that road trip where you got lost, the dent is from that parking lot. Those aren't flaws, they're the story. Letting things just sit clean feels like wasting their purpose, doesn't it? The wear proves it was actually loved and used for something real.
