Update: Just found out how much food trucks pay for permits in LA
Was talking to a guy who runs a taco truck on Melrose. He said his yearly permit costs over $5,000. I looked it up on the city's website and it's true, the fees are crazy high. That's before you even buy food or gas. Makes you respect the hustle a lot more. How do the smaller trucks even make it work?

Wow, five grand is a lot, but come on, that's the cost of doing business in a prime spot. They're charging like fifteen bucks for three tacos, so the math has to work out somehow. If it was really impossible, you wouldn't see a new truck on every corner. They just build that fee into the price like every other business does with its costs.

Hold up, you think every new truck is actually making it? I mean, have you seen how many disappear after a few months. Building the fee into the price only works if you can sell enough tacos before you run out of cash. What happens when a slow week hits and that five grand is still due on Friday?
