Tried a glue assist method on a floating floor install in Tampa...
I was putting down some 12mm laminate in a rental flip and kept getting this hollow sound in the middle of the room. Thought it was the subfloor but turns out the click lock wasnt fully engaging. On a whim I ran a thin bead of wood glue along the tongue of the last 3 rows before tapping them in. Solid as a rock now. No more hollow spots. Anyone else ever cheat with glue on a floating floor?

Honestly I gotta disagree here. If the click lock isn't fully engaging, glue is just masking a bigger problem with the installation or the subfloor prep. Ngl that hollow sound usually means the locking mechanism is shifting over time, and glue will just make it impossible to fix later without tearing up the whole floor.

Nah, you're overthinking it. Glue is like putting a Band-Aid on a broken bone sure it covers the problem but it's not fixing anything underneath. That hollow sound you're hearing is basically your floor saying "please don't ignore me" and slapping glue on it is just gonna make the eventual fix a nightmare. I've seen guys do this before thinking they're clever then six months later they're ripping up half a room because a locking tab snapped from the stress. Plus if you ever need to replace a damaged plank you're screwed because it's all glued together like a puzzle from hell. Sometimes the best move is to take the L now pull it up and level the subfloor properly rather than kicking the can down the road with glue.
