Heated that glue seam on a vinyl plank job like the old days. Big mistake.

Had a click-lock floor in a Phoenix condo that wouldn't sit flat at one seam. Grabbed my heat gun, figured a little warmth on the locking strip would soften it up. The whole plank edge warped and bubbled instantly, ruined a 4-foot section. Learned modern vinyl doesn't react like the old adhesives. Anyone know a better fix for a stubborn click seam that won't engage?

Ever try tapping it in with a scrap piece and a rubber mallet instead? Heat guns are way too aggressive for that thin material. What kind of locking system does that floor even use?

Honestly bailey.sam, that click-lock vinyl is so thin a mallet can crack the tongue. A heat gun on low just makes it flexible enough to click in without force.

Yeah the mallet can totally crack those cheap planks if you're not careful lol. Honestly a hair dryer on low works just as well as a heat gun and is way less risky. Just warm up the locking edge for like 30 seconds and it should click right in without any force. That thin stuff is such a pain to work with.
