Unpopular opinion: I thought recapping a Sega Genesis was a quick job until the board lifted.
I mean, I rushed the heat on a 1992 Model 1 last Tuesday and now I'm hunting for a donor unit. Anyone have a good source for these old mainboards that isn't just eBay?

Wait, you lifted the pads on a Model 1? That's a nightmare, those boards are tough!

Angelaellis is right about the boards being tough, but rushing the heat is a skill issue more than a board problem. A proper desoldering station and some patience would have saved that Genesis. Donor boards are a band-aid for a technique that needs work. Try practicing on some junk electronics before hunting down rare parts.
