Tried fixing a broken zipper on my favorite winter coat with a paperclip
I was in my kitchen last Tuesday night, the zipper pull snapped clean off my Patagonia jacket right as I was about to head out for my evening shift. Figured I'd try to MacGyver something, so I grabbed a paperclip from the drawer and bent it into a loop, then threaded it through the zipper slider. It actually held for about three days before the paperclip bent out of shape, but it got me through the cold snap. Any ideas for a more durable temporary fix that won't require sewing?

Had a buddy who did this on his old Carhartt jacket last winter except he used a twist tie from a bread bag. Worked fine for like a week until he leaned against a chain link fence and it just snapped right off. He ended up drilling a tiny hole through the slider and running a small key ring through it. That thing lasted him the whole season until he finally got the zipper replaced at a tailor for twelve bucks.

Nobody tried a paperclip yet? Way stronger than a twist tie.
