Vent: My extra camera gear messed up a beach day in Bali
I thought bringing two cameras and five film types to Bali was necessary for variety. While switching lenses at a temple, I dropped my favorite roll in the sand and ruined half the shots. Now I travel with one camera and two films max, and I actually enjoy shooting more. For beginners, keep it simple so you don't stress and miss moments.

Totally get that shift to simpler gear making things better. Did a similar thing hauling three bodies to a festival once and spent the whole time worrying about switching instead of enjoying the show. Less stuff just lets you focus on actually getting the shot.

Yeah, that's the exact feeling. Just to be clear for anyone reading later, when you said "three bodies" I know you meant camera bodies, not like... actual people. But your point stands completely. Carrying too much kit turns you into a pack mule instead of a photographer. I've definitely overpacked before and missed shots because I was busy digging in my bag instead of watching the scene.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I brought my whole zoom lens collection on a hike. Spent more time changing lenses on a dusty trail than looking at the view.
