Heads up about the film fridge at that little camera shop on 4th Street

I stopped by that place yesterday to grab a roll of Portra 400, and I opened their fridge to look. The temp inside felt way off, like it was just cool, not cold. I asked the guy behind the counter about it, and he said it's been 'acting up' for a week. They had a bunch of film in there, including some slower stuff like Ektar 100. Heat is the enemy for film, it speeds up the fogging. If you're buying from a small shop, maybe just check the fridge feels properly cold before you buy, especially in the summer. I ended up passing on it. Has anyone else run into a shop with a wonky film fridge?

My local spot had a warm fridge last summer. I just started buying my film online from a bigger retailer that ships with cold packs. It feels safer for anything that isn't super fresh.

Yeah, I read that heat can really mess with the color balance.
