I was setting posts for a vinyl fence in Duluth last January, thinking the ground was solid enough after a few warm days. The whole first section leaned like a drunk sailor after the next freeze-thaw cycle because I only went down 2 feet. What's the coldest ground you've ever had to dig into for a proper set?
