Vent: My "minimalist" dress pattern had 14 pieces and I nearly quit
I was in my studio last Thursday cutting out this supposedly simple shift dress pattern, and there were 14 separate pieces for a plain A-line. The designer called it "minimalist" but I spent 3 hours just labeling and organizing everything. I ended up ditching half the lining pieces and just improvising the inside seams. Has anyone else found that labeled "simple" patterns are actually way overengineered?

Fourteen pieces for a shift dress is more like a puzzle than minimalism.

Is that for real? Fourteen pieces is wild, I count myself lucky if I can get a pattern down to like eight or nine without losing my mind. I tried a "simple" dress once and ended up with so many darts and facings I almost just went and bought one instead lol.
