TIL how pineapple leaf fiber is being used for sustainable jackets and bags
I was reading up on circular economy stuff and found out about this fabric made from pineapple farming leftovers. I mean, it's a vegan alternative that cuts down on agricultural waste, which seems pretty smart for design. Has anyone tried working with this or other upcycled natural materials in their collections?

Does this mean we'll all be wearing fruit salad by next season? Seriously though, it's clever, but I can't help wondering if it'll just become another overhyped eco-trend. Have you actually felt the material, or is it still mostly conceptual for designers?

Remember when cork fabric was touted as the next big sustainable material? I had a bag made from it that looked great until it spent a day in a damp trunk and developed permanent creases. It makes you question how these innovative textiles perform outside a controlled environment, right?
