How my cleaning rags accidentally became my design muse

I started keeping old cloths from work to test out fabric textures and drapes. One had these random bleach stains that made a cool abstract pattern. I used it as inspiration for a dress design, and now people ask where I get my prints. It's pretty funny that my job as a cleaner sparked a whole new way of thinking about fashion.

Honestly that's a great way to find patterns. I keep a folder on my phone now for random textures I see, like peeling paint or rust. It helps a ton when you're stuck for ideas.

Wait, so you actually do that too? I always thought taking pictures of random stuff like that was kinda pointless until I got stuck on a design last month. My buddy told me to try your method and I finally took a photo of some cracked mud in a parking lot. Ended up using the lines from it in a background and it totally worked. Now I'm hooked on looking for textures everywhere I go. What was the first thing you saved that really helped you out?

Remember that rust photo I took last year?
