Vent: My COO told me I was micromanaging the wrong things and I think he had a point
He said I was obsessing over expense reports for junior staff while ignoring that our product roadmaps had no clear owners across 3 different teams, and now I'm wondering how many other blind spots I've got has anyone else had a direct report call them out like that?

That happened to me last year and honestly I hired a peer coach who just shadowed me for two weeks and pointed out all the stuff I was totally missing, which felt awful at first but saved my sanity later.

Wait so did the coach just... watch you work silently and then dump all the feedback at once, or was it more like they'd tap you on the shoulder in the moment? I keep wondering if that kind of real time critique would make me freeze up even worse... like imagine you're in the middle of a tense client call and someone's scribbling notes right next to you. Did they give you any specific examples of the stuff you were totally overlooking, stuff that seems obvious now but you just couldn't see then?
