Vent: My booking system's auto-charge for cancels is causing friction with clients

I recently set up an online booking system for my skincare studio that automatically charges clients for late cancellations. Some estheticians I know swear by this because it protects our time and income from no-shows. Others argue it creates bad blood with regular clients who might have a valid reason to cancel last minute. I'm caught between wanting a fair policy and keeping people happy. Where do you all stand on this?

Your booking system automatically charges for late cancels? I can't believe you'd risk upsetting regulars like that.

That fee covers the empty slot when someone doesn't show up.
