Lactic acid peel went wrong on me at 5pm yesterday

I was doing a 30% lactic acid peel on a regular client at my suite in Austin when her skin started turning bright red and blotchy within 2 minutes instead of the normal 3-5. I neutralized immediately with cold water and sprayed a cooling mist but she got these raised welts that took 20 minutes to calm down. Has anyone else had a sudden reaction like this with a product you've used a hundred times before?

OH MY GOD, this EXACT thing happened to me last month with a 40% mandelic I've used for years! I thought I was going to lose it when those welts showed up.

Bro i saw a derm on tiktok break this down, said some actives just hit a limit where your skin flips out. Could be the formula changed or your moisture barrier was already weak. Sucks cause it was a holy grail for you, but maybe let your skin chill for a week or two then try a lower %, like 20% max.
