Showerthought: I just read that a standard TV remote control battery can last over a year with daily use.

Found it in the spec sheet for a common button cell while ordering parts. Has anyone else had a remote die way faster than that?

My old Samsung remote ate batteries every few months, it was ridiculous. I mean maybe it's just me but I had to keep a pack of AAs in the drawer just for that thing.

OMG @diana_flores25 you are not alone! My old Samsung remote was the exact same way, it was a total battery vampire. I swear I was changing them every six weeks like clockwork. I started buying those huge value packs from Costco just for that one stupid remote. It got to the point where I just left the battery cover loose because I was in there so often.

Honestly, it's the cheap remotes that come with the TV. My old Vizio was a total power hog. The backlight on the buttons would stay dimly lit for like a full minute after you pressed something. You could just watch the battery life draining in real time. I finally just put black tape over the sensor to keep it dark.
