My second screen almost got me fired last Tuesday

I was grinding through Hades on my main monitor while doing a late shift in a warehouse in Memphis. Had Slay the Spire running on my phone propped against a box. Boss walked up behind me just as I lost a Hades run and accidentally tapped the phone, making a card play sound. I froze and coughed really loud to cover it up, pretended I was checking inventory numbers. He just nodded and walked away. Has anyone else had a close call like that at work?

Sat a young guy down at my old job and told him straight up that if he got caught playing games he'd be fired. Told him to keep his phone in his pocket during shifts and only check it on breaks. He actually listened and it saved him a few times when managers did walkarounds. I also learned to turn my sound off completely before I even sat down. The real trick is to keep your eyes on the actual work as much as possible and only glance at your phone when you know nobody is nearby. It's not worth losing a paycheck over a game.

Honestly, the whole "keep your phone in your pocket" thing is the real advice right there. I read somewhere that most people get caught not because they're playing, but because they're not paying attention to their surroundings. That part about turning the sound off is huge too, I've seen guys get busted just because their phone made a noise at the wrong time. Ngl, it's all about being smart about it and knowing when it's safe to even look at the screen, but you're right that it's not worth losing a paycheck over a game.
