Why I still trust my eyes over the screen for dredge positioning

Many dredge teams around here love the new computer controls. I think they make us lazy and less aware. A close call last year showed me that watching the water still matters most.

Honestly, screens can't feel the current like we do.

Tell that to my laptop when I spilled coffee on it last week. It definitely felt something. But yeah, I guess a screen won't get that sinking feeling in your gut when the water looks wrong. It just shows pixels moving. You can't smell the air off a screen either, that weird metal smell before a storm.

Wait, you had a close call last year and still need convincing? Like @henryperez said, screens miss the feel of the water, which is key. That gut feeling from watching the waves can save your equipment and crew.
