Rant: I saw a drafting table setup at the library in Bellingham that made me rethink my whole home office.

I was at the downtown Bellingham library last Friday and they have this public drafting station in the tech area. It's just a basic table with a cheap lamp, but they mounted a small digital tablet right next to the drawing surface. The guy using it was switching between a paper sketch and the digital screen to check dimensions, and it looked so smooth. I always thought you needed a huge, expensive dual-monitor rig to work that way. My home setup is just my old drafting board in the corner, and I run to my computer across the room to check files. Seeing that simple side-by-side method has me wanting to redo my whole workspace. Has anyone else tried integrating a small screen directly into their manual drafting area?

That part about running across the room to check files. I felt that. My setup is so bad I use my phone as a second screen. Propping it up on a stack of books. Real high tech stuff. Makes that library table look like a spaceship.

Oh man, my friend's laptop died mid-project last week. She had to use her tablet as a monitor, balanced on a cereal box. The whole thing tipped over twice.
