Why does nobody talk about using shower curtains for pet costumes?

Went to the dollar store in Tacoma last week and grabbed a clear shower curtain for $2.50. Cut it into a little raincoat shape for my corgi, no sewing needed, just used velcro strips. He pranced around the yard for 20 minutes like he was a tiny dragon slayer. Has anyone else tried random household stuff instead of buying those overpriced pet costume kits?
