TIL from my trip to Morocco how to make a mosaic table... but I'm stuck on the grout.

So I just got back from a trip to Marrakech... and the tile work there was amazing. I saw all these intricate mosaics in the markets and decided to try making a small side table for my patio. I found some broken tiles from a leftover pile at a home improvement place and started arranging them on an old table base. The pattern came out pretty good, but now I'm at the grouting part and it's a mess... the grout keeps cracking after it dries. I followed online guides but maybe my mix is wrong? Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm using a regular sanded grout, but it might be too dry... or maybe I need to seal it another way. Any tips would be great, I really want to finish this before summer.

Yeah, the grout cracking after it dries is such a common headache. I had the exact same problem with my first mosaic project last year. My mix was definitely too dry, so I added water slowly until it felt like thick paste. Letting it cure for a full day before sealing made a big difference for me. Once you find that right consistency, it all comes together.

My buddy had that same issue with his bathroom tile. He kept adding water until the grout stuck to his trowel without dripping. That extra wet mix and a slow dry time fixed all the cracks for good.

Oh, I've been through that grout cracking nightmare! Getting the mix to a thick paste and curing it slowly saved my project.
