Switched from a 15 dollar hand grinder to a used moka pot for better shots

I used to grind beans with that cheap plastic thing for 3 years until last summer when a neighbor gave me his old moka pot, and now I just pre-boil water on the stove for way less fuss and fewer fines in the cup, anyone else ditch their grinder for a simpler tool?

Oh man, I feel you on that. I had that same cheap hand grinder for years and it was such a pain, always spraying grounds everywhere. When I finally got a stovetop pot it was like a weight lifted off my counter, just simpler mornings. The pre-boiling trick really does cut down the mess, I do that too and it makes a world of difference.

Oh whoa hold on now, I gotta say something real quick. The stovetop pot is the moka pot, right? Not trying to be that guy but I see folks mix those up all the time. The pre-boiling trick works for both though, that part is spot on. I actually let my water sit for like 30 seconds off the boil before pouring it in, seems to keep the grounds from exploding everywhere. Makes the whole morning routine a LOT less messy.
