My PS4 slim fan started grinding last week, took me 3 tries to fix it
Honestly, I thought my PlayStation was about to die. The fan made this awful grinding noise every time I played Elden Ring. I opened it up and found a piece of plastic stuck in the fan blade. Pulled it out, put it back together, and it still made noise. Second time I realized I didn't seat the fan connector right. Third time, I used compressed air to clean dust off the heat sink and now it's silent. Has anyone else had random stuff get stuck in their console fan?

Wait, a piece of plastic just got stuck in your fan naturally? That's wild. I've had dust bunnies and cat hair cause issues but never some random plastic chunk. Makes me wonder if it fell off something inside the console during assembly. You'd think Sony would have better quality control than that. Glad you got it sorted though, the grinding noise is absolutely terrifying the first time you hear it. I would have just taken mine to a repair shop after the first failed attempt, you've got way more patience than me.

That whole thing about the plastic chunk is what gets me too. You'd think they vacuum those things out or something after assembly, not just leave loose bits floating around in there. Honestly makes me wonder how many other consoles have little hidden surprises waiting to rattle loose eventually. Glad yours is quiet again though, that grinding noise is enough to make you want to throw the whole thing out the window.
